It
is the responsibility of the bank to make good on a check that
was forged. This is providing that you can prove that your did
not know your checks were stolen and that you can prove that the
check does not contain your signature. It is your responsibility
to notify the bank should your checks go missing. Proving a forgery
is another matter. A handwriting expert offers his expert opinion
and then it is submitted as evidence in the court, and like any
piece of evidence it is up to the court to decide if that evidence
is valid.
